I Quit Sugar: Sarah Wilson - Day#5 blog writing challenge

Click here to get yourself a copy!I Quit Sugar
I love Sarah Wilson and I love that she has dedicated her time and knowlegde to write this incredible book about removing sugar from your diet. Before her book came out I spent a week trying to eliminate sugar from my diet - it was extremely difficult and became all too hard so I gave up.
Since then I have been applying some of her tactics to my every day life, I haven't yet completed the 8 week program (as some of you may know - I just had a baby) but the plan is to challenge myself and my sugar intake in the next few months (once my life settles back into some type of routine). And I challenge you too, take the challenge buy Sarah's book and give it ago.

Get clean, clear your mind and drop some kilo's - I dare you.

Back with treats!

Some of the treats that we have come home with:
Fresh home grown garlic, lemons and figs bought from a beautiful Italian mamma.
Oranges picked less than 3 days ago - $5 a bag!
Honey that is so divine I am not sure that I will share the 'Orange blossom' flavour with my family.
Two lots of chutneys because I just couldn't resist (or choose which was best).
Olive tapenade to go with the beautiful fig and walnut loaf!
3 year aged tasty cheese that melts in your mouth.
And a tummy full of organic coffee and biscotti - I can't wait to go back next month.

Oh yes and of course flowers, apples and strawberries. These strawberries I was told will not disappoint and they don't -they are delicious and grown with out chemicals. Bye bye methy-bromide (which is what is usually sprayed on strawberries to prevent the bugs eating them first).

Farmers Markets - 'Shop Local, Think Global'

I love buying our food from local shops and markets, I love supporting small businesses and I love making my money my vote. This weekend I will be going to the Bundoora Park Farmers Market it is the first Saturday of the month which means it is tomorrow. I have only been to this market once before but I was very impressed. So much so that I couldn't buy all that I wanted because I didn't have enough cash!

The bread was local from Collingwood, the strawberries were ever so sweet, the apples were truly new season, the honey had thickness and the egg yolks were yellow. It is a gold coin donation to Rotary at the gate, there is coffee and cakes, meats, flowers and even liquorice.

Support the farmers and makers - come and buy something fresh and yummy for you and your family.
